Excerpt The paper presents some medals with medical subjects, made by Tony Szirmai', a medalist of Hungarian origin, born in Banat. He
worked in Paris in the second half of the 19t h century and the beginning of
the 20"1 century. The works presented attest Romania's participation at
different international congresses and conferences.
The items considered are: the Medal of the Interna tional Conference against Tuberculosis held in Copenhagen in 1904: the Medal of the Congress of the International Association against Tuberculosis - the
Hague, 1906; the Medal of the International Congress of Medicine Lisbon. 1906; the Plaque of the 61st International Conference against Tuberculosis held in Vienna in 1907, the Medal of the 11th International Congress against Alcoholism Stockholm, 1907; the Plaque of the International Conference for the Study of Cancer Paris 1910 and the Medal of the Sanitary Conference of Paris, 1911.
Romania's participation at these medical events is inscribed on each of these pieces.
The paper also includes a short presentation of the artist's life
and work.
