Excerpt In the middle of XVIIth century Romanian aristocracy’s structure in Walachia changed gradually accordingly with marriages between merchants and rich money lenders, many of them originated from the south of Danube, more precisely from Ottoman Empire. This kinship was determined, among others, by the cash needs for new houses, furniture and luxurious garments. We suppose that the first marriage between a high rank boyar’s daughter and furriers’ guild’s chief is the one revealed in this article, as the one between Stana Pârâianu and Dima from Ţarigrad/Istanbul. I researched in detail the documentation regarding Dima`s usurer` activity, the way he made his wealth and how this was wasted by successors.
