Romania’s War of Independence was depicted in the European press. Throughout 1877, a well-known London periodical, “The Illustrated London News”, published a series of graphic representations of the military events taking place to the north and south of the Danube, events which led to the gaining of Romania’s independence and its international recognition. The original engravings, whose reproductions were published in “The Illustrated London News” and which have an important documentary-historical value, are found in the collections of the National History Museum of Romania |
